Thrive on the Airwaves: Sharing Our Story of Feeding Hope
Thrive Global recently had the incredible opportunity to be featured on KWMR (West Marin Community Radio)—a beloved local station known for amplifying community voices and global causes. In this powerful segment, Thrive’s co-founders Priscilla Heffelfinger and Gina Gabel, and Thrive secretary John Phelan sat down with KWMR hosts to share how meals are changing lives in the Philippines and Bangladesh.
What Is Thrive?
Thrive Global is a nonprofit organization on a mission to end child hunger through daily school meals. Since 2012, Thrive has delivered over 3 million school meals across the Philippines and Bangladesh—offering not just nourishment, but dignity, education, and hope.
A single meal helps keep a child in school, focused, and full of life. For many of the children we serve, this is their only guaranteed meal of the day.
What We Shared on the Program
During the KWMR interview, Priscilla, Gina, and John spoke about:
✅ The impact of daily school meals on child health and education
✅ Personal stories about how Thrive started and how its going
✅ The resilience of communities rising above poverty and conflict
✅ The significance of losing U.S. aid to the region—and why Thrive remains unaffected thanks to individual donors
Why We’re Still Thriving
As mentioned in the interview, many global nonprofits are feeling the effects of shifting international aid policies. But Thrive remains 100% donor-funded, and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our meals keep coming—without interruption.
Every dollar goes directly toward feeding children and sustaining our school-based programs. We are proof that grassroots generosity can outlast geopolitical change.
