“That they finish school … I want to see this end, my exhaustion.”

Meet Nanay Mercy, a proud mother and Thrive cook at Katutubo Village Elementary School in the Philippines. For many mothers like Mercy, this is their first steady source of income. By preparing daily school meals, Mercy helps feed children from the indigenous Aeta community while supporting her own family. Because of Thrive, children go to school nourished, and mothers gain employment—your gift to Thrive is always more than just a meal!

From Mercy:

That they finish school … Here in our area, we have children who became teachers, who became policemen. But my child – he wants to be a fireman. Even if this is our life, I want to see this end, my exhaustion. I just want to experience what it’s like—that even if we didn’t finish school, our children can. I’m crying. In whatever way, we can overcome what we’re experiencing now and here.
