Overall Job Description
The Country Director (CD) is responsible for the overall direction of the country’s operation and the day-to-day operational management.
Oversee Management of Programs and Operations
Reporting to the Thrive Board President, the CD plays the lead role in ensuring achievement and adequate resources for programs and operations in a particular country and continuously evolving them to become relevant, more effective, efficient, and innovative.
Strategic Plan and Financial Progress Reports
The CD continually assesses program and operations progress against the Strategic Plan and annual budget and submits weekly, monthly and quarterly performance and progress reports to the Board.
Effective Stakeholder Relations and Growth
The CD is accountable for ensuring Thrive’s profile and reputation with stakeholders are strong and reflect Thrive’s core values and mission. The CD supports stakeholder growth and sustainability through proposals and reports, events and campaigns through a deep knowledge of core programs, operations, and business plans.
Develop and Manage Local Staff and Volunteers
The CD trains and manages the local staff and volunteers. The CD is involved in staff selection training development, scheduling, and ongoing professional development of employees and volunteers. The CD is the direct liaison between the country program and its team (staff and volunteers) and the Thrive board.

Experience & Cultural Fit

  • A can-do, get-it-done mindset and team ethos — you are inventive, eye for detail, and relish a fast-paced and roll-up-your-sleeves culture.
  • BA or BS required; Masters in related field preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential(English required)
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • 3+ years experience in managing people
  • Experience with managing budgets
  • Experience with stakeholder management is a plus
  • Highly self-motivated, results-focused, organized, and invested in Thrive’s growth.
  • Deeply drawn to Thrive’s mission — healthy food to hungry children to give them a chance to truly thrive!
