Kathleen, a student from a remote island in the Philippines, shares a little bit about her family and in the importance of Thrive meals.

Transcript:

I’m Kathleen, I live in Dawahon, Bato, Leyte.  I’m 12 years old and am an elementary student.  It’s just me and by grandmother at home because my mother is working away in Cebu.  I take care of my grandmother.  Our livliood is farming seaweed, or ‘lokot.’  We use the money to buy bread…to buy rice.

Because of Thrive, I now have food to eat — tasty food.  Because of Thrive, I can eat.  I have energy to go to school.  I won’t be hungry, and my stomach won’t hurt.  Before, I wouldn’t be able to eat before going to school, but now I can.   My favorite foods to eat at Thrive are apples and oranges. Before, I could only eat it on special occasions.  Now I can eat even if there isn’t a special occasion.

Thank you to the supporters of Thrive.  Through you we have feedings and we have food.
