Since 2012, Thrive has held an annual Mother’s Day Campaign to honor a mom you love by supporting another mother in ensuring her child(ren) receives daily nutritious meals at school. We invited donors to support the cost of providing a weekly glass of milk this Mother’s Day. It is a favorite, nutrient-dense, and too expensive for most families to offer at home.
This year, we ask supporters to choose to give a gift of milk. Just $35 provides 130 glasses of milk. With GlobalGiving: Thrive, we will be able to give 8,450 glasses of milk to schoolchildren across Bangladesh and the Philippines.
Milk provides good health. It also incentivizes mothers to send their children to school (one less meal) and helps them stay focused during the school day.
School attendance rates peak with Thrive’s support, with an average of 90-95%, over 17% higher than the national average. As one School Director shared, a glass of milk equals 100% attendance.
Recently, a Thrive recipient student, Louie Jay, who lives on a remote island in the Philippines, entered his first swim meet with borrowed googles and now is the first from his region to prepare for nationals. He and his mother credit Thrive’s meals with giving him the boost in energy and confidence to compete.
We want to extend a big thank you to GlobalGiving: Thrive and its 29 generous donors, who transformed children’s lives by supporting healthy nutrition for children who depend on it.
