“I dream that they will finish school … I hope they can aim higher and not always be stuck at the bottom.”
Meet Nancy, a proud Aeta mother who has her first-ever steady job! Since August, she has been employed by Thrive to cook daily school meals for the 241 students at Katutubo Village Elementary School, in the Philippines, which serves children from the indigenous Aeta community. The meals have had an immediate impact: on Thrive’s very first day at the school, attendance reached an unprecedented 100%. Children are getting educated and a mother can help support her family—your gift to Thrive is always more than just a meal!
From Nancy:
I have two kids studying here at Katutubo Village Elementary School. I dream that they will finish school, so they don’t have to go through the hard situation we’re facing now. I hope they can aim higher and not always be stuck at the bottom.
Sometimes at school the kids are hungry. We can’t help that some kids don’t have food at home. Sometimes the kids say, “My head hurts,” and when we ask why, they say, “I didn’t get to eat.” Now the kids will ask, “What’s our food for today?” Now they have food in their bellies and they are full.
