Two alumnae travel abroad and significantly impact children’s lives

Michigan native Gina (Rennpage) Gabel ’99 found her calling in life halfway around the world among the twisting alleys of some of the poorest slums in the world. It led her to create a charitable organization, Thrive, that now feeds more than 1,600 meals each week to schoolchildren living in the slums in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Celebrating “Thrive”

Thrive started out when three mothers got together with the simple but meaningful intention of giving hungry children in Dhaka some nutritious food. Development worker Priscilla Heffelfinger and teachers Regina Landor and Gina Gabel were deeply affected by the dire situation of underprivileged children upon moving to Bangladesh.
